One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 225 in Aurora, police said.
The northbound highway was closed at East Iliff Avenue around 5 a.m. for clearing and investigation of the crash. At 9:45 am it was still completely closed, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Aurora police officials said Two cars crashed on I-225 near Iliff on Sunday and investigators believe at least one of the cars was speeding.
The first car was carrying a driver and a passenger, police said. One person in the car died in the crash and one person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the three occupants of the second car were not injured.
