US 287 is shut down just south of Oxford Road due to a fatal crash.
According to Mountain View Fire Rescue’s Facebook post, one person was confirmed killed in the crash and four people were taken to the hospital.
Two people at the scene refused treatment, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue spokesman Rick Tillery.
At 1:14 p.m., a call came in that multiple cars were involved in a high-speed head-on collision involving five vehicles, Tillery said.
Colorado State Patrol and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the crash and Erie police are on scene to assist with traffic control.
US 287 may be closed to traffic in both directions for an extended period of time for investigation and cleanup purposes, according to the post.
