One person was killed and six others were injured today after a mass shooting in a park in the city of Rochester, New York. Local media.
Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department told reporters at a news conference that police responded to Maplewood Park on Sunday around 6:20 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired during a large gathering. They found several people with gunshot wounds, and a large group of people fled the scene.
Police say a 20-year-old is dead, another is in life-threatening condition, and another five people are currently hospitalized with “relatively minor injuries” as a result of this shooting.
Police said some people were transported to hospital by private vehicle and others by ambulance throughout the night.
The identity of the shooting victim has not yet been released.
Several police agencies responded to the park, including the Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriffs, Rochester Police and the New York State Police.
