One man was killed in a shooting Friday evening on East Colfax Avenue in Aurora, police said.
On Friday around 8:45 p.m., Aurora officers responded to reports of a shooting at a business near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Helena Street, according to a police news release. The intersection is home to a liquor store, grocery store and several fast food restaurants, and is close to the Whispering Pines Apartments.
When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds, according to the statement. Police did not identify the victim but said he died of his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting was preceded by an argument and a fight, police said. Police have not yet identified a suspect and no arrests have been made.
“There is no information at this time regarding possible connections to the migrant community or gang activity,” police said in the news release. “The investigation is active and ongoing.”
