Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling PC Blue Menu original margarine and margarine with olive oil due to possible mold in the product.
According to details published by the Canadaian Food Inspection Agancy (CFIA), the recalled products were distributed nationally in Canada
About mold in food
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), mold in food can pose serious health risks. Some molds cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems, while others produce mycotoxins under certain conditions: poisonous substances that can lead to diseases. Mold root threads can penetrate deeply into foods, especially those with a high moisture content, making it unsafe to simply cut off the moldy part. The USDA recommends throwing away moldy foods, especially soft fruits, vegetables and meats, to avoid potential health risks. Proper food storage and regular inspection are critical to prevent mold growth and ensure food safety.
