The new version of “The Office” at Peacock adds three new cast members.
Melvin Gregg (“American Vandal,” “Snowfall”), Chelsea Frei (“Poker Face,” “The Cleaning Lady”) and Ramona Young (“Never Have I Ever,” “Santa Clarita Diet”) will all star in the series. alongside previously announced cast members Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore.
As previously reported, the show is not a reboot or spinoff of ‘The Office’, but rather a new mockumentary show with a new cast set in the same universe. The official logline reads:
“The documentary crew that immortalized the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin is looking for a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
Greg Daniels, who developed the American version of ‘The Office’ for television, is co-creating the new series with Michael Koman. Both serve as executive producers, along with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who created the original British version of the series, as well as Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas. Universal Television is the studio.
Daniels opened a writers’ room in January 2024 to begin work on the new version of the hit NBC mockumentary sitcom, which ran from 2005 to 2013. The American ‘Office’ was based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and followed the paper company’s staff Dundler Mifflin. It starred Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak, among others. The show has maintained its popularity long after leaving the airwaves, finding new life when it became available to stream.
