After a disappointing Champions League last season, it took just three minutes for Milan to open the score against Liverpool at the San Siro thanks to American Christian Pulisic. It is his third goal of the season in all competitions for Milan as despite their poor performances under Paulo Fonseca, he has been in excellent form to start his second season in Milan.
Familiar with the clash against the Reds thanks to his time in the Premier League with Chelsea, Pulisic scored his third goal against them on the day before his 26th birthday. Being able to drive that goal to victory would be the best way to start the competitive phase of Champions League play.
Let’s look at the goal:
After receiving the ball from Alvaro Morata, no one at Liverpool closed down Pulisic, giving him a one-on-one opportunity with Alisson that he would not miss. Pulisic’s national teammate Weston McKennie also scored for Juventus on what has been a big day for Americans in Europe’s top club competition so far.
Milan have started the match well and now it’s time to see how they keep the pressure on as the first half continues, as Liverpool are a team that can increase the score on their own.
