Celebrities pay tribute Kris Kristofferson after the country music star died at age 88.
On Sunday, September 29, news broke that Kristofferson had died at his home the day before. “We are all so blessed for our time with him,” his family wrote in a statement on Sunday. “Thank you for loving him all these years, and when you see a rainbow, know that he is smiling at us all.”
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young also honored Kristofferson via social media on Sunday. “Kris Kristofferson believed that creativity is God-given, and those who ignore such a gift are doomed to misfortune,” the statement said. “He preached that a life of the spirit gives voice to the soul, and his work gave voice not only to his soul, but to ours as well. He leaves behind a resounding legacy.”

Travis Tritt
The country singer, who co-starred with Kristofferson in the 1999 film Outlaw justiceshared two throwback photos of the couple via Instagram. “Sad to hear of the passing of Kris Kristofferson. He was an inspiration to me and I was fortunate to meet him on the set of “Outlaw Justice” which we filmed in Spain in 1998,” he captioned the post. “My sincere condolences go out to Kris’ wife Lisa and all his family, friends and fans.”
LeAnn Rimes
The singer and songwriter took over X to share a photo of her cuddling with Kristofferson. Rimes, 42, captioned the photo: “An epic human being with the biggest heart ♥️ you will be so missed. rest assured, my friend. #kriskristofferson.”
Reba McEntire
The country music star shared a sweet tribute to Kristofferson via X on Sunday. McEntire, 69, posted a photo of the late singer performing with her, captioning the moving memory: “What a gentleman, kind soul and a lover of words. I’m so glad I met him and was around him. One of my favorite people. Rest in peace, Kris.”
Josh Brolin
The Dune actor chose some poignant lyrics from Kristofferson to post via Instagram on Sunday. Brolin, 56, wrote: “Poet, sweet person, traffic scholar, redneck old schooler,” before sharing part of the late star’s 1971 song: “Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I’ll Ever Do Again)” .
Brolin’s message read, “Getting close with a feeling I’ve never known in my time/She’s not ashamed to be a woman, or afraid to be a friend/I don’t know the answer to the easy way she opened every door in my mind / But dreaming was as easy as believing it would never end…Kris Kristofferson RIP for another great one.”

Fanning, 30, posted an Instagram Story reflecting on the time she spent with Kristofferson in the 2005 film Dreamer. “This legend was so good to me when we worked on Dreamer together,” says the Perfect couple star wrote last Sunday evening. “What an honor to have spent time in his presence.”
Barbara Streisand
The A star is born actress shared heartfelt words via Instagram on Sunday night, calling Kristofferson “something special.” Streisand, 82, captioned a series of photos paying tribute to her former costar: “The first time I saw Kris perform at the Troubadour club in LA I knew he was something special. Barefoot and strumming his guitar, he seemed like the perfect choice for a script I was developing, which eventually became a script A star is born. In the movie, Kris and I sang the song I wrote for the movie’s main love theme, “Evergreen.”
The message continued: “For my last concert in 2019 in London’s Hyde Park I asked Kris to join me on stage to sing our other A star is born duet, “Lost Inside Of You.” He was as charming as ever, and the audience showered him with applause. It was a joy to see him receive the recognition and love he so deserved.”
Streisand concluded the post with, “My thoughts go out to Kris’ wife, Lisa, who I know has been supportive in every way.”
