The LA Dodgers fan who had fireworks in his hand during a viral World Series celebration gone wrong last week has lost two fingers, his father announced this week.
Kevin King Sr. told Fox 11 Los Angeles his 25 year old son, Kevin King Jr.now has no index or middle fingers on his left hand… and has already undergone two surgeries to repair the damage caused by the fireworks.
Unfortunately, King Sr. said. that King Jr. will soon need a third procedure.
King Sr. also said his son had hearing loss in both ears… but somehow the doctors told him it could have been worse.
“Just watch the video it’s just,” King Sr. said, “they don’t understand how he could walk away with the injuries he has. He protected 98 percent of his face from the blast.”
King Jr. is currently in a hospital in Southern California recovering. His family says it is still unclear whether he will be able to resume his job in the oil industry once he is back to 100 percent.
A GoFundMe set up to help King Jr. to help with medical bills has already reached nearly $10,000.
