Eastbound I-76 closed in Denver due to a crash near Sheridan Boulevard

Eastbound Interstate 76 is closed Tuesday morning after a fatal crash between a car and a bicycle near Sheridan Boulevard.

The crash occurred around 4:36 a.m. on I-76 near mile marker two. At least one person was killed, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The identity of the person has not yet been released.

The highway closed around 4:45 a.m. between Interstate 70/Wadsworth Boulevard and Colorado 95/Sheridan Boulevard. according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Drivers should use alternate routes and expect delays in the area.

As of 8:20 a.m., Google Maps reported a six-minute delay eastbound.

The crash is under investigation. No estimated reopening time for the highway was available as of 8:20 a.m. Tuesday.
