Drake Bell has an idea for a reboot of ‘Drake & Josh’, inspired by ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.
In an interview on the ‘Beyond the velvet ropeOn the podcast, Bell said he would be more than willing to reunite with his former co-star Josh Peck for a reboot of sorts, noting that his “dream” would be to recreate Larry David’s Emmy-winning sitcom to imitate.
“I have a very special place in my heart for ‘Drake & Josh’ and I would love to revisit the character. I’d like to discuss something with Josh again,” Bell said. “My dream is to do something like ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ where we play ourselves but try to navigate through life today.”
Bell explained how the plot of this meta-reboot could go. “Maybe I’m trying to get him back with me, and he’s like, ‘Dude, you’re annoying, get out.’ I don’t know what it is, but I would love to do something like ‘Entourage’ or ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ with Josh one day.”
Bell went on to say that it would be “really cool” to have the entire extended cast of the Nickelodeon hit involved in the project, including his family Miranda Cosgrove, Nancy Sullivan and Jonathan Goldstein, as well as Jerry Trainor. Allison Scagliotti, Yvette Nicole Brown and Vince Deadrick Jr.
“Drake & Josh” consisted of 56 episodes over four seasons and was one of the most popular Nickelodeon shows of the mid-2000s. The series follows the popular guitar-guzzling Drake Parker (Bell) and the helpless loser Josh Nichols (Peck), two high school students who become unlikely stepbrothers after their parents get married.
