This tall, slender tower can remain outside all year round, because it also serves as a fan. It also won’t take up much space since it has a very small footprint. However, if you do want to move it around, you’ll find it’s light (3.5kg) and portable – there are no moving parts to snag or flap around when you lift it.
It has no top, so it’s child and pet friendly, and it also has attractive, minimalist lines.
Best of all, though, are the smart features. Once you download the HomeWizard Climate app and connect it to your home Wi-Fi network (a breeze when we tested it), you can control it remotely and set schedules, including different options for weekdays and weekends.
There is even support for voice control via Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri. This basically comes down to switching on and off, although there’s a surprisingly detailed level of setting options, so you can have different voice commands to enable, for example a low heating level, with oscillation, or a cooling fan that decreases over the course of an hour.
There are 10 fan settings, four heat settings, oscillation and three modes: natural (which varies airflow, with a distracting effect), normal and sleep (which slowly reduces intensity as you drift off).
There is also a built-in thermostat, which allows you to set a target temperature. When this level is reached, the heating is turned off. It turns on again when the temperature drops. There is also a timer, which you can set in one-hour increments for up to 24 hours.
It is available in black or white and is ready to use as soon as you unpack it. No assembly is required. The included remote control even comes with two AA batteries.
On the negative side, the cooling fan gets noisy at higher levels – much more so than a traditional round fan – and it’s a power-hungry 2000W.
