Robert Brooks reportedly died at the hands of New York State Corrections employees — and even more shocking, some officers are pulling in as much as six-figure salaries… TMZ has learned.
Brooks — an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in upstate New York — died of asphyxiation due to compression of his neck during the Dec. 10 attack by guards and other prison staff, according to a preliminary autopsy report.

Staff bodycam footage showed the violent attack on Brooks in prison, during which the inmate was viciously beaten while he was restrained and gagged. Before his death, Brooks was serving a 12-year prison sentence after being convicted of assault.
According to state employee compensation data obtained by TMZ … eight of the 14 Department of Corrections employees take home six-figure salaries and the rest take home between $70,000 and $89,000.
In 2022 or 2023, the annual income data reveals Sergeant Glenn Trombly earned $149,185; Officer David Kingsley II $147,745 hacked; Officer Matthew Galliher withdrew $114,375; Sergeant Michael Marshaw collected $105,672; Officer Christopher Walrath received $113,969; Officer Nicholas Kieffer earned $118,151; Officer Anthony Farina was paid $142,528; and nurse Kyle Dashnaw was compensated $110,087.
The other six corrections employees are paid less than $100,000 but still make a pretty good income. Here is the list of salaries for those officers in 2023: Nicholas Anzalone ($87,028), Robert Kessler ($89,248), Michael Visser ($85,143), Michael Langs ($88,333), Shea Schoff ($87,276) and David Walters ($70,423).
A spokesperson for the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision tells TMZ … 13 of the employees have been suspended without pay and Farina has resigned.
Meanwhile, Governor of New York Kathy Hochul the correction commissioner has instructed, Daniel F. Martus celloto begin the process of firing the still active prison staff.
