The Nothing Phone (3A) can be one of the best Mid-Range smartphones of 2025 when it is launched next month, and it seems to be set to an iPhone 16-like camera button.
Nothing has been brought to X (formerly Twitter) to post a seductive teaser for the upcoming Mid-Range smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3a) (and rumors (3a) Pro), which will be revealed on 4 March.
The attached image seems to show a grainy close-up (is that an X-ray?) Of some of the physical checks of nothing telephones (3a), and there seems to be something a bit different about them …

What the nothing phone (3a) of the mystery button could do
The Nothing -Telefoon (2a) separated its volume buttons on the left edge of the Power/Wake button on the right edge. What we look at here seems to be the right -hand edge of Nothing Phone (3a), which means that there is a brand new button next to the Power/Wake operation.
It seems related to the camera control button on the current iPhone 16 range, which suggests that the Nothing Phone (3A) will offer its own manual camera shut button. Nothing also adds to the small descriptor, “your second memory, one click away”, which certainly gives weight to such a theory.
Another possibility is that this is just an equivalent of the bindable action button, although all that talk about a ‘second memory’ is ‘one click away’ shouts photography to us.
Where have we seen such camera buttons before?
Of course we compare this to the iPhone 16 as the most controversial example of a smartphone with a physical camera shut button, but Apple was far from the first to offer something like that.
Sony has consistently offered a two-stage camera shut button on the Xperia I Flagship Smartphone Range, the most recently with the Sony Xperia 1 VI. The Nubia Z70 Ultra recently offered a similar provision.
In any case, we have used such a physical camera button, it serves a double goal. At a basic level you can fire the camera app before you even brought the phone in front of your face, which can be vital to grab that spontaneous shot.

More meaningful, with which you can frame your recordings a little more carefully, the half -depressed button to lock the focus before you completely press. It brings the whole experience much closer to classical photography.
Where Apple is innovated with its own camera control when offering a swipe-sensitive element with which you can navigate through different camera menus, but it has been criticized because of not only the uncomfortable placement, but awkward control elements.
Will nothing similar complexes bring like the Nothing Phone (3a), are we wondering?
It seems somewhat doubtful that it will do that, since we are probably talking about a sub-£ 400 smartphone here. Yet this would be a rare and welcome addition to the affordable smartphone category.
We will certainly find out if nothing makes his announcement on March 4 at 10 am GMT.
