Timelapse images show the rapid construction of a Chinese military complex that, according to American officials, is on schedule to be at least 10 times as large as the size of the Pentagon.
A new report from the Financial times CITES Former and current American officials who say that the intelligence community is closely looking at a vast 1500 -hectare site in China. The site, which some people call ‘Beijing Military City’, has characteristics that suggest that Chinese leaders are preparing for a potential nuclear war with the United States.

Analysis by the Financial Times, based on the European space agency Sentinel-2 satellite images, shows the development of a project that started about 20 miles southwest of Beijing last year.
Experts suggest that the deep holes that are visible in the images may indicate the preparations for building reinforced bunkers that are designed to protect the military leadership of China in the case of war possibly even pending a nuclear first strike.
Lyle Morris, a senior fellow for foreign policy and national security at the Asia Society Policy Institute, compared these developments with the underground bunkers that chairman Mao Zedong and other top Chinese leaders withdrew during the 1969 limit conflict with the nuclear arming Soviet Union.
Morris shares his analysis on X and stated: “I can almost say one thing: the deep bunkering suggests preparations for a nuclear C2 command. Given the deep paranoia of the CCP about an American first strike on the mainland, this would be like Command and control center for all senior CCP -civil and PLA leadership during a nuclear war or crisis.
Mathieu Duchatel, a policy analyst at the Paris-based Institut Montaigne, also weighed X and noticed: “The scale is amazing and it is striking if you were built in Xiangshan if you have been there. But what reveals this- That China is not only looking for military parity with the US, but superiority, and that his leadership remains vulnerable to a disarming first strike that we already know. “
Dennis Wilder, former deputy assistant -director of CIA for East Asia and the Pacific Ocean, The Financial Times said: “If confirmed, this newly developed underground command bunker for the military leadership of China, including President XI in his role As chairman of the central military committee, the ambition of Beijing to not only build a conventional military power of world class, but also an advanced nuclear war fighting. “
The Pentagon serves in particular as the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense and is located in Arlington in the state of Virginia. It is one of the world’s largest office buildings and hub of the foreign policy of Washington.
