Indian Captain Suryakumar Yadav had a forgetful T20i series against England with the bat, but his brilliant captain helped India to win the series 4-1. After the series was over, the Indian skipper played a small joke in the dressing room during the best field ceremony.
Fielding Coach T Dilip asked Suryakumar Yadav to present the medal without revealing the name of the winner. Yadav took the medal and went to Spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who showed a significant improvement as a field player during the series against England.
Yadav, however, quickly left Chakravarthy and went to Dhruv Jurget, who received the prize. You can view the moment here:
The whole dressing room burst out of laughter after the little joke of Captain Yadav. Dhruv Jurgel had a big smile on his face when the Indian skipper presented him the medal.
“Phenomenal things guys! Well done” – Fielding Coach t Dilip praises Suryakumar Yadav and Co.
Before presenting the medal, T Dilip addressed the Indian team and praised them for their field efforts during the series. Dilip emphasized how the team conquered different challenges and said via the aforementioned video:
“Fenomenal things guys! Well done. When it comes to the field, I think we as a team always strive to be aggressive, and even in this series we have shown that fielding is not just about skill, it is one attitude.
“When we are on the ground, we don’t know for sure how many balls come your way. We can’t control that, but we can certainly control our intention, consciousness and readiness, and we have shown that in the series.”
Jurgel took three catches in the two T20is that he played for India against England. He also came in as a replacement for Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson in the fifth T20i and took three catches behind the stumps in the shaky stage.
