RFK Jr. 'Maha Commission' has the first meeting, behind closed doors

A range of federal government officials and “Make America Remory Again” Mothers met on Tuesday in what the first gathering was of a new committee led by health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The meeting, which will be held in Washington on Tuesday afternoon, was not made public or announced before it took place. It marked the start of a month -long effort, born by President Donald Trump’s pen on 13 February, who aims to identify and then resolve the chronic ailments of the nation. The meeting was first reported by the New York Times. Stat has independently verified that it took place.

Among those in the Maha committee, there are advisers of domestic policy advisers, as well as agricultural secretary Brooke Rollins and educational secretary Linda McMahon, who were both present on Tuesday. The leaders of the Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institutes of Health are also appointed as the committee. Trump’s choices for those roles – Marty Makary, Dave Weldon and Jay Bhattacharya – have yet to be confirmed.

Kennedy is able to invite other members of the Trump administration to participate in the meetings, according to the text of the executive order. Pers secretary Karoline Leavitt was present on Tuesday, as well as Kennedy adviser Vani Hari and lawyer and Trump adviser Alina Habba, according to A message on X By Kennedy Ally Calley means what shouted them like ‘Maha Moms’.

Stat reached for HHS for comment and to the White House for more information about when the committee will come together and whether those meetings will be public.

The group will study potential contributors for chronic diseases in children, “including the American diet, absorption of toxic material, medical treatments, lifestyle, environmental factors, government policy, techniques for food production, electromagnetic radiation and business influence or friendly policy,” said the executive order.

Within 100 days, the Maha committee must give an “initial assessment” about the state of prevalence, treatment and examination of chronic diseases, according to the EO. In 180 days it must provide Trump a Maha strategy, which may recommend reducing federal practices that are not effectively considered to improve health, supporting existing best practices or recommending new solutions.

Trump promised in campaign material to set up a presidential committee that investigate the causes of chronic diseases in the nation. Kennedy promised to make his desk more transparent during his confirmation hearings. However, the Maha Commission meeting of the closed door remains a trend of confidentiality at the Ministry of Health and Human Services in recent weeks.

Earlier this month Kennedy ended a decades of practice to involve the public in a wide range of HHS activities, pushback of watchdogs of public access and advocacy of the patient.
