From across the seas: the Philippine diaspora’s support for their homeland

The rising number of Filipino Americans wanting to give back to the Philippines is “partly rooted in identity,” said Audie T. Vergara, executive director of Apl.de.Ap Foundation International.

“Many of the Filipino Americans I meet today were educated in the United States, but they have a real interest in coming back here and bringing whatever they are doing – for example in Silicon Valley – to the Philippines,” he said. .
