Saoirse Ronan is now a married woman!
The four-time Oscar nominee, 30, married her Mary Queen of Scotland costar and longtime partner Jack Lowden earlier this year, according to the Register of Scottish Civil Marriages.
The Sunday Independent reported that the ceremony took place over the weekend of July 20 and was intimate, with just a handful of their closest friends and family at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office in Lowden’s native Scotland.
News of Lowden, 34, and Ronan’s romance broke in December 2018, when the pair appeared in the film together Mary Queen of Scotland in which she played the role of Mary Stuart and he the husband of the monarch, Lord Darnley. Gossip that they were dating started circulating that same month.
Page six was the first to report that they had developed into more than just friends. However, a year later, the Little women star denied the romance when asked to address the speculation surrounding her relationship with Lowden.
“Can I ask if you’re dating the person everyone thinks you’re dating?” a reporter for The Telegraph asked in December 2019. Ronan said, “No,” ending the discussion.
Lowden himself avoided the gossip about their love life by commenting ES magazine in February 2019: “Oh, I’m not going to talk about that. I don’t like to talk about that side of life.”

Still, the rumors persisted, such as the Daily email shared photos of Lowden and Ronan hanging out together near her London home in 2020, and Lowden was spotted showing Ronan some support after finishing a stage production of The tragedy of Macbeth in 2021.
Additionally, they were seen at the 2022 Australian Open and started appearing on each other’s social media. Ronan appeared on Lowden’s Instagram several times in 2022 (all posts have since been deleted) before Lowden shared several photos from a trip to Japan in 2023, which showed glimpses of Ronan.

The pair took and shared a mirror selfie in December 2023 to commemorate the new year. “NYE. Long may you Lum Reek. Be good, be bad, but we are all fannies,” Lowden wrote on the recording.
In June, Lowden took to Instagram Stories to share videos of himself and Ronan attending the Glastonbury music festival in England, and posted a romantic photo of himself with his arms wrapped around Ronan on his grill.
