The Information Security Officers Group (ISOG), the leading professional information security organization in the Philippines, celebrated its 10th anniversarye anniversary on July 10, 2024, with a renewed pledge to strengthen cybersecurity in the country. The event, held at the Peak Music Lounge of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in BGC, Taguig, brought together more than a hundred information security professionals from various organizations and industries.
In his opening remarks, ISOG President Archie Tolentino highlighted the organization’s role in protecting the nation amid a wave of digital intrusions targeting the Philippines. These developments underline the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures. “At ISOG, our commitment remains steadfast: protect, educate and empower. We will continue to increase our knowledge, share our expertise and collaborate with partners from different sectors to create a resilient cyber ecosystem,” said Mr. Tolentino. “Our goal is not just to respond to threats, but to anticipate and prevent them, and ensure that the Philippines stands strong in the face of cyber adversity.”
ISOG President Emeritus Joey Regala took the stage to share the organization’s history and remind the community of its fundamental purpose. He reflected on the founding of ISOG on July 7, 2014, when nine visionary Chief Information Security Officers gathered in the UCPB Board Room. Recognizing the growing cybersecurity challenges facing their organizations and the nation, they decided to combine their efforts and lay the foundation for what would become ISOG.
Chito Jacinto, ISOG VP & Chairman of Membership & Events, spoke about the importance of active involvement within the organization. He emphasized that being part of ISOG goes beyond simply attending events and networking with fellow cybersecurity professionals. “Our commitment to our community reflects our commitment and drive to contribute to cybersecurity excellence for our country. It is about sharing knowledge, supporting each other and working together to tackle the challenges we face in the digital world,” said Mr Jacinto.

ISOG was initially founded as an organization for information security professionals in the financial and banking sectors and has since significantly expanded its reach. Today it has more than a hundred members from different sectors and companies, with a growing global impact. The organization maintains three fundamental pillars: education and awareness of information security practices for their members and customers; inter-institutional response to incidents; and intelligence sharing of critical information, such as the latest operational methods to counter cybercriminals.
