Drake Bell told Mensmagazine That a weight has been lifted, a year after broadcasting Id Discovery’s ‘quiet on the set’. In the documentary series, Bell became public for the first time that he was sexually abused as a teenager by his Nickelodeon dialog coach Brian Peck. It was perhaps the biggest bomb that came from ‘silence on set’, which also detailed claims of misconduct behind the scenes in Nickelodeon in the nineties and early 2000s.
“It was really a nice weight,” Bell said, marking the debut of the one -year birthday of “Silence on Set”. “It’s a roller coaster of emotions. I don’t want to give it a sugar jacket and make the message: “Hey, everything you have to do is just tell it to someone and get your story and if you wake up the next day, it will be gone and everything will be fine and you will walk through life without pain or sorrow or sorrow!” It will always be there, but it is a lot more fun to get support. ”
Peck worked on the Nickelodeon shows “All That” and “The Amanda Show” in the late 90s and early 2000s, the last of which played his own “Drake & Josh” series on the network. In 2003, Peck, at the time 43, was arrested on 11 charges – including sodomy, unlawful action on a child 14 or 15 by a person 10 years older, and oral copulation by anesthesia or regulated substance – but the victim was not mentioned until Bell stepped forward.
“It is really great to have experiences now, instead of walking through the airport and let people come and ask a selfie, they come and share their stories and say:” I watched your documentary and after your interview I opened myself for my husband. It’s something I have never told anyone, “Bell people told. “I didn’t expect to have that kind of impact on people.”
During the PECK’s 2004 process, many actors such as James Marsden, Taran Killam and ‘Boy Meets World’ stars Will Friedle and Rider Strong Strong Strong Letters of Support in his defense. Peck heard the past year of some of these people, who took his hand to tell him: “I was completely lied to and bent by this person, and it was a totally different story that was told me. I would never have written that letter. I’m so embarrassed. ”
“It’s nice to hear things like that,” said Bell about getting a believer.
Bell added that it is still somewhat difficult to wrap his head around that “everyone knows my secrets”, but he has gratitude to the fans who support him.
Bell later added about the past year, ‘hearing the stories of other people in group therapy and thinking about yourself:’ Oh, wow, that was a very tough story. That is what you have experienced in your life, maybe I feel a bit comfortable to share my story and then I might empathize with others. ‘Because if you go through something like that, one of the most important things is that you are alone. But then you hear these other stories and you think, “I’m not the only one.”
After the release of “Quiet on Set”, a Nickelodeon spokesperson indicated the following explanation Variety As far as Bell is concerned: “Now that Drake Bell has announced his identity as the plaintiff in the 2004 case, we have been relieved and sad to learn from the trauma that he has endured, and we praise and support the power needed to come forward.”
Bell later said during an episode of Podcast “The Sarah Fraser Show” That the response of the network to his story was: “A really well -drawn up answer of probably a big lawyer in Hollywood … I think it’s pretty empty, their answers, because, I mean, they still show our shows, they still put our shows on. And I have to pay for my own therapy, I have to find out what – if there was something more, a truth would be behind them then they would be truth behind them A legal representative who tells them exactly how to align a response. “
