A new study from the University of Tel Aviv used AI tools for the first time to discover what motivates people to practice and which strategies are most effective for maintaining physical fitness.
The researchers used aids for artificial intelligence and machine learning to scan thousands of messages on the Reddit Social Network. They discovered that 23.9% of users who deal with sport do this to improve their appearance, 18.9% exercise to maintain their physical health and 16.9% exercise to maintain their mental health. The study was led by a team of researchers from Tau’s School of Public Health, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences: Dr. Michal Shmueli-Scheuer, Yedidya Silverman, Prof. dr. Israel Halperin and Prof. dr. Yftach Gepner. The paper is published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research.
Prof. Gepner explains: “Researchers in our field of trust usually trust cumbersome Old-school questionnaires that contain inherent prejudices, to understand why people are involved in sport and which strategies help them to adhere to physical activity. It is an amazing phenomenon: science tells us that we can prevent a little more than two hours a week, and a quarter of the week in physical activity, and a quarter of the week in the life of the hour a week, and a quarter of the week in the hour a week, and a quarter a week, and a quarter of the hour a week, and a few hours a week, and a quarter of the hour a week, and a few hours a week in the life of the hours a week of the hour a week in the hour a week in the hour a week in the hour a week of the hour a week of the hour a week of the hour a week of the hour a week of the hours of the hour a week of the hour a week of the hours a week of the hour a week of the hours of the hours of the hours of the hours of the hours of the hours of the Hours of the Hours of the Hours of the Hours of the Hours of the Hours. Life, and a quarter of the lifetime of life, and a quarter of the population.
“Although we all wish our loved one good health on their birthday, a wish of ‘good training’ is quite rare … but there is a way to be healthy – by exercising. That is why it is crucial to understand what people really motivate to do physical activities and what helps them hold.”
Prof. Gepner adds: “Our findings are not based on self -reporting, a representative sample, a questionnaire or a survey. This is in clear terms the real reason why people practice. And the answer is that people mainly practice to look good. Health, and preventing.”
In addition to the issue of motivation, the researchers also tried to identify strategies that encourage people to do physical activity. According to the Reddit messages, 30% depends on training habits (eg morning/evening, every Saturday morning), 13.9% set goals (such as losing waste or walking 5 km), 12.1% enjoy the activity itself, 9.7% enjoy socializing during training, 8.9% usage media (such as youtube) has a financial activity, and 2,5.5ing, and and and and 2,5.5ing, and and and 2,5.5ing, and and and 2,5.5ing, and and and 2,5.5ing, and and and 2,5.5ing, and and and 2,55, and and and 2,5.5, and and and 2,5.5, and and and 2,5.5, and and and 2,5.8 -year -old -training, and and and 2,5.5, and and 2,5.5ing training -training -training, and to -training -training -training. to make.
“The results are pretty significant,” explains Prof. Gepner. “One strategy is more successful and therefore more recommended than others – creating training habits. If you want to be healthier, you have to develop healthy habits, menstrual period. Instead of a morning cigarette, drink two glasses of water and go out for a run. 30% is an empirical statistics that are hard to say the Health Property, so I cany the Argum, I can be able to do, I can be able to do, I can be able to do it, I can be able to do it, I can be able to do it, I can be able to do it, I can be able to do it, I can be able to do it. are.”
