It’s been a whopping seven years since the last installment of the Xenomorph franchise was released. Alien: Covenant certainly wasn’t the best part of the series, and it’s no wonder Hollywood has lost some faith in the universe. However, it is not abandoned for good. Directed by Fede Álvarez, Alien: Romulus is expected to be a fresh start for the franchise.
Cailee Spaeny, who you may remember from Priscilla and Civil War, plays the lead role in the film. Her character, Rain Carradine, will have to fight to the death against a mysterious predator along with the rest of the spaceship crew.
The cinema is the best place to see the battle against the Xenomorph, but if you’re curious when the film will be released on streaming services, VOD and DVD, read our guide.

When will Alien: Romulus be released on VOD?
It is unknown when the latest installment of the Alien franchise will be released digitally. However, it usually takes a month and a half to two months for a 20th century studio film to appear on VOD after its cinematic release.
While we’ll have to wait for the confirmed premiere date, we expect Alien: Romulus to be available to purchase or rent in early to mid-October 2024.
When can Alien: Romulus be released on streaming services?
As a 20th century studio film, the new Alien film will be released on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK. The release date largely depends on the film’s performance at the global box office.
If the new Alien is a success, it could hit Hulu and Disney a month after its digital release, just like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes did. However, if Alien: Romulus fails, the wait for a streaming release could be much shorter, as with The First Omen, which arrived on VOD on Hulu and Disney just two days after its release.
20th century studios
Based on all of this, Alien: Romulus will likely arrive on Hulu and Disney any day now end of October to beginning of November 2024.
Accounts on Hulu start from $7.99 per month for an ad-supported version. The basic Disney+ subscription with ads costs £7.99 per month.
When could Alien: Romulus be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Based on the releases of other studio films from the 20th century, we expect Alien: Romulus to hit stores about a month after it debuts on streaming – end of November 2024.
