Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka will miss a significant part of the season after suffering a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ 5-1 win over Crystal Palace. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that the 23-year-old England international will be absent “many weeks” after the setback, which saw him leave Selhurst Park on crutches. Saka, who has been crucial for Arsenal this season with nine goals and 13 assists in 24 appearances, was described as “stripped” after learning the severity of the injury. Arteta acknowledged that the busy schedule could have contributed to this, given Saka’s heavy workload over the past three seasons.
Saka’s absence poses a major challenge for Arsenal, with Arteta already brainstorming ways to adapt. “It doesn’t look good,” Arteta admitted. “He’s injured, there’s nothing we can do about it.” The Gunners previously conducted the campaign without a captain Martin Odegaard due to an injury. Arsenal next face Ipswich Town at the Emirates Stadium on December 27 and Arteta will hope his side can strengthen in Saka’s absence.
