Dorfman, 37, who gave birth to a child, her first, whom she shares with her husband Blaine Harton December 20, 2024, candidly explained her nutritional method through a series of Instagram Stories on Thursday, January 9.
Revealing that fans had DM’d her to see if she had breastfed her child, the first Bachelor party described her situation in detail.
“Okay, first of all, my sister and I were both formula-fed babies. So I feel like this was always within my plan,” Dorfman said. “And then I started using the breast pump to give her breast milk, and that way I knew how much she was getting.”
Dorfman said her baby’s unexpected stay in the NICU, where Harper was bottle-fed, changed her feeding plans.
“So I tried to pump at the hospital, but my milk hadn’t come in yet,” Dorfman continued. “She actually did really well on the formula, so we brought a lot of that home from the hospital. When we got home, I tried pumping a few times, but my milk supply was still not in.”

So that, I feel, has also stopped the pumping a little bit.” The reality TV star was referring to her return to the hospital after being discharged following the birth of her baby due to two hematomas, closed wounds where bloody puddles cannot drain, according to Cleveland Clinic.
Dorfman, who married Hart in Italy in May 2023, said she tried to pump “one or two more times” but was unable to produce milk.
“The strange thing is I never had any pain,” Dorfman added. “I didn’t have any engorgement, I didn’t have those side effects that people talk about when they stop pumping. I just kind of skipped that. I don’t know if that’s because my milk supply just never came in and wouldn’t, or if I missed the opportunity, or honestly, if it was just the plan making its own plan. But here we are.”
Dorfman added that Harper is doing well as she approaches one month in the world. “I hope this story helps someone,” Dorfman said. “I don’t know why there is so much judgment and stigma when it comes to breastfeeding or bottle feeding, or not doing one or the other. But that’s my story. We stick to it.”
The new mother appeared Juan Pablo Galavis‘ season 18 of The bachelor in 2014, before becoming next Bachelor party. During her season, Dorfman became engaged Josh Murray only to divorce him within months.
