After a number of complaints about the redesign of the photos in iOS 18, Apple adjusts the look and feel of the app in its new OS release, now branded as iOS 26.

The change was mentioned briefly during the keynote on Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 25); Apple noted that it brought back an interface with tabs to photos, although it does not look the same as before.

“Many of you missed the use of tabs in the photos of the photos,” said Craig Federerghi, Senior Vice President Software -Engineering of Apple – who is as close as Apple will ever admit that it has made a mistake with the revision of the app last year. “Photos now contain individual tabs for library and for collections,” he added, displaying the update.

In collections you will find your favorites, your albums and you can search in your library.

In the meantime, the Library tab makes it easier to browse through recent photos – a user interface that clearly prefers many people.

The changes to photos in iOS 18 led to some recoil, because it could be centralized, centralized and organize your photos on a single page. Some developers have even capitalized on the return and offer external photo apps that promised to reduce the old user interface for a fee.

Also in the iOS 26 update the photos -app can convert your 2D photos into 3D spatial photos. This function can be found on the updated lock screen of the iPhone and is inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro Spatial Computing headset.

Related to photos, the camera app of the iPhone and iPad was updated to make it easier to find the many functions. The app now shows the two recording modes that you use the most on the main screen: photo and video. To reveal extra modes, you can sweep your finger on the left or right. Here you can switch to things such as portrait mode, film mode and others. To gain access to other settings – such as the flash, timer, aperture and more – now sweep up from the bottom of the screen.

You can also change sizes with a tap, which is useful to switch between the HD and 4K resolution or to adjust the frame speed on video.
