Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo‘S Bad press trip was one for the books.
The duo – who portray Glinda and Elphaba respectively in the film adaptation of the beloved Broadway show – have become noticeably emotional while discussing their special bond in the film, which hits theaters in November 2024.
“I think we found a little piece of ourselves in each other,” Erivo said while holding a crying Grande’s hand during an interview on “Jakes Takes‘ Earlier that same month. “I think there are little pieces of us that, when we came together to do this together, when we first started, each of us was missing a little piece.”
She continued, “And I think we were able to see a little bit of a reflection in each other, and so I think I got a little bit of her softness, and she got a little bit of my strength.”
Grande hilariously added through tears, “Honestly… we’re a bunch of little crybabies here.”

Letting go of everything
During an interview with Entertainment tonight in November 2024, Grande and Erivo opened up about why they were so emotional about their film.
“We’re doing our best, but a lot of emotional things happened, and we’re just going with it,” Erivo said into the camera, to which Grande added, “You have to understand that it was like: three years, people! There’s a lot going on… Why does emotional availability scare you so much? It’s out of happiness and joy.”

“We definitely cried during interviews,” Erivo said, with Grande adding, “Yes, we’re sorry. Much to the chagrin of many.”
“We can’t do anything about it, it just happens. … It’s been such a long journey,” Erivo continued. “It’s a big dream come true for both of us.”
