Arvada police officers shot a carjacking suspect early Sunday morning after the suspect entered the stolen vehicle and shot at officers, police said.
Officers found a stolen car in an alley a block west of Kipling Parkway, between West 58th Place and West 59th Avenue, around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. Arvada Police Department.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, got into the car, refused to leave and fired at officers, police said.
Three Arvada officers returned and shot the suspect, who paramedics entered the hospital “with life-threatening injuries,” police said. No update on the suspect’s condition was available Sunday morning.
Police officials said the three officers involved were placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. No officers were injured.
