Before the international break, there’s still quite a big match to take place in the Premier League, as Aston Villa and Manchester United are two sides heading in opposite directions after European play. Villa defeated Bayern Munich at home, while United had to claw back a point against Porto after taking a two-goal lead. Unai Emery has already indicated that the Premier League is the focus for Aston Villa, so his team will be well prepared to come out on top in this match against United.

Here are our storylines, how to watch the match and more:

How to watch and odds

  • Chances: Aston Villa +120; Sign +270; Manchester United +200

Storylines

Astonvilla: The biggest question is how much Emery will rotate for this match. With the international breakthrough on the horizon, you don’t have to worry about players being overloaded despite playing during the week. Even with depth like Jhon Duran, players like Ollie Watkins and Lucas Digne rarely have to play 90 minutes in a match, making them fresher than usual after playing in European competition.

Manchester United: Erik ten Hag needs a rethink at United. The Red Devils perform five goals less than their xG in the competition. The return of Rasmus Hojlund could help the offense, but this feels systemic. Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee are all underperforming and changing the XI only does so much. United cannot go into the international break with a slim loss, so they will have to compete far from home.

Prediction

Aston Villa’s attack will prove too much for Manchester United to keep up with as the Red Devils drop another game in their mid-table slump. Choose: Aston Villa 2, Manchester United 1
