Aurora investigators are looking for a Denver man wanted in connection with a July shooting that left one victim dead and another hospitalized, police said.
Earlier this month, an arrest warrant was issued for 32-year-old Bryant Jay Beecher of Denver, but the man has not been arrested, according to an Aurora Police Department news release.
Beecher is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, police said.
Investigators initially believed the two victims shot each other, but later said a pair of unrelated suspects entered the Abrigo Apartments around 12:15 a.m. on July 5 and shot both victims.
The apartment complex is located in the 12100 block of East 30th Avenue, near Peoria Street and across the street from Park Lane Elementary School.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office said 57-year-old Fred Willis of Aurora died at the scene from his injuries and the second victim, an unidentified 46-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The second man survived, coroners said.
Anyone with information about Beecher or his whereabouts is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
Police said the second suspect in the shooting, 53-year-old John Edwards, was arrested in Texas in September, brought back to Colorado and charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in Adams County District Court.
Edwards is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 17, according to court records. He remains in custody in Adams County on $1.25 million bail.
