An Aurora West College Preparatory Academy Soccer Coach was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse of children, the 17th judicial official public prosecutor said Friday.
Urlich Dahm, 67, is accused of sexual abuse on a child by one in a position of trust as part of a pattern of abuse, which is a crime. His arrest warrant has been sealed to protect the victim’s privacy, said the DA’s office in a press release.
Prosecutors claim that the attack took place between September 6 and February 7, while DAHM was a football coach at the school.
In a letter to parents and staff, director Ryan Adams said that the victim is a former student and Dahm is no longer employed by the school or the district.
DAHM started working at Aurora Public Schools in 2018, Adams wrote, and a background control at the moment “did not indicate a rather inappropriate behavior or criminal activities.”
Adams did not say when Dahm left the school or that he resigned or was fired. “This statement is deeply disturbing and my focus will remain on supporting our AWCPA community,” Adams wrote.
Dahm is held without bond in the detention facility of Adams County, according to the court reports. His next judicial date was not immediately available.
