The British Broadcasting Corporation has filed a complaint with a British anti -itiner who complains that aggregators such as Apple News and Google News are minimizing credit for the stories they contain.
Apple Insider reports that The BBC asks British competition and markets Authority To credit Apple and Google more prominently more news sources. And although the CMA decision would only apply to British publications, all change in the aggregators would probably also influence other publishers.
“If the public is value from our content and services, but attributes that value to gatekeepers instead of the BBC, then the observed value of the BBC undermines,” the broadcaster wrote in his complaint.
That observed value can be particularly important for the BBC because it derives the majority of its financing from license costs paid by British households – it is therefore important that the work of the broadcaster is visible and appreciated to maintain support for the reimbursement.
Apple recently pauted AI newsmanships after complaints of inaccuracy of the BBC and other publishers.
