As we head into the weekend, with plenty of football matches taking place, they can sometimes be overwhelming to put on for betting purposes. But that’s why we’re here, to help you keep an eye on the weekend’s best bets. From the Premier League to obscure teams deep in Austria, there isn’t much on the table. A few comments we would like to make are that all of the odds listed are readily available and while it is easier to use a widely available book, line shopping to get the best price is encouraged where possible. When it comes to player props, it’s also better to wait for lineups when possible, as not all books void non-starters and a substitute appearance can ruin getting money back on a bet.
Going into the weekend we have three main bets and a parley. All bets are considered as one unless otherwise stated, so without further ado, let’s get started.
Premier League: Liverpool vs Wolverhampton
Saturday, September 28 (12:30 PM ET USA en Fubo TV)
The choice: Liverpool scores over 2.5 goals +104
Sometimes a choice requires a lot of analysis as to why it makes sense, but this is not one of them. The Reds are flying under Arne Slot and have scored three or more goals in four of six games in all competitions this season. Two of those have come home and two more have come away from Anfield. Against a Wolverhampton side in the middle of the relegation race, even if Liverpool rotate with Champions League football on the horizon, that doesn’t matter. Wolves have conceded fourteen goals in the league, which is joint-worst with Everton. I also don’t mind Luis Diaz finding the back of the net here.
La Liga: Osasuna vs Barcelona
Saturday, September 28 (3:00 PM ET ESPN+)
The choice: 0.5 units, Raphinha has three or more shots in the first half +300
Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s attack was paramount from the start of the matches until the final whistle and that was a significant advantage for his attacking players. Someone who has done particularly well is Raphinha. Without Dani Olmo, he has increased his shot production from the left wing and Osasuna will not be able to keep up with him. The Brazilian averages 3.71 shots per game, although this is boosted by taking six against Villarreal. Therefore, it is a pull back units game as it is a longer opportunity for him to take care of business in just 45 minutes of play.
Danish Superliga: AaB vs. Sonderjyske
Sunday, September 29 (8:00 AM ET)
The choice: 1st half more than 1.5 goals +144
This is where we go a little off the beaten track… we look at the bottom half of the table in Denmark. Sonderjyske has improved his form of late, scoring two or more goals in four of the last five league matches, while AaB have conceded two or more goals in four of the last five games. But as the game opens, neither of these teams are good at defense. Since we don’t care who scores a goal, we have to get them started early and often. Only the over 2.5 is a bit too powerful for me at -160, so I’ll take my chances.
Weekend course
The choice: 0.25 units, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Marseille all win +311
Keep it simple here. I don’t like taking multiple away teams, but Liverpool and Marseille are both in games they should win. Bayer Leverkusen will be up for battle for Bayern Munich, but with the form the German giants are in, I’m not sure any team in the world can stop them from scoring.
