Beyoncé declared it’s “time to sing a new song” as she endorsed Kamala Harris at the vice president’s campaign rally on Friday.
“The old notes of ruin, discord and despair no longer resonate. Our generations of loved ones before us whisper a prophecy, a quest, a calling, an anthem,” the singer said at the event in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
“Our moment is now. It’s time for America to sing a new song. Our voices sing a choir of unity. They sing a song about dignity and opportunity. Are you ready to add your voice to the new American song? Because I am. So let’s do this.”
Queen Bey, who gave Harris permission to use her song “Freedom” during the campaign this summer, told the H-Town crowd that she was not at the rally as a “celebrity” or a “politician.”
“I am here as a mother. A mother who cares very much about the world in which my children and all our children live,” says the singer three children with her husband and rapper Jay-Z.
She continued, “A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies. A world in which we are not divided. Our past, our present and our future come together to meet us here.”
The singer has previously expressed her support for President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 bid and, most recently, he endorsed Joe Biden on the eve of the 2020 elections.
‘We need you. Your voice has power and size. Your voice is one of the most valuable instruments and we need you. Your freedom is your God-given right, your human right,” said Beyoncé, who was joined at the meeting by fellow Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland.
She added that Texas, a state where polls show a tight race between Rep. Colin Allred (D), is embroiled a tight race along with Senator Ted Cruz (D), is playing a “critical role in changing the course of our future.”

“We all have a role to play in making this a reality, we are all part of something much bigger,” she said. “We need to vote and we need you.”
