Bill Belichick says his Instagram is “busy” with people coming in to DMs

Bill Belichick gets a quick indoctrination into life with college kids – because his Instagram DMs are flooded.

The 72-year-old Belichick was announced as the new head coach of the University of North Carolina on December 12. In the time since, Belichick said he has become quite popular on social media.

“Lots of guys [have been] contact us because we want to come to Carolina,” Belichick said Monday, Dec. 30, on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show. “My Instagram account was busy. Scroll through that. Never thought I would say that.”

Belichick continued, “But here I am. Participating in the 21st century.”

The former Patriots head coach has been busy recruiting “a lot of guys going into the transfer portal,” the official way college athletes can change schools.

“It seems like every day, as teams’ seasons wrap up with the bowl games and the playoffs, they’re coming up,” Belichick explained.

The school will host potential recruits on campus during the weekends of Jan. 4 and 11, Belichick explained.

“It was fun, it was good,” he said of the experience so far. “Really enjoyed it. The school was great.”

Belichick added: “A lot of good players want to come to Carolina, so that’s a good thing. If you see any good ones, send them our way.”

McAfee, 37, laughed, but the former Indianapolis Colts punter was still hung up on the fact that the infamously old-school Belichick used social media to his advantage.

“I can’t wait to see who ends up there with a North Carolina Tar Heel under your watch,” McAfee said. “I think this is something that a lot of people would be excited about. I can’t believe you’re now using your SnapFace and MyFace DMs to connect with people who may be in the transfer portal, but I love it.”

While he’s busy replying to all his DMs, Belichick is also a fixture on his 24-year-old girlfriend’s Instagram feed, Jordan Hudson.

Hudson and Belichick met in 2021 while Hudson was still in college. They made their relationship official on Instagram in October and since then Hudson has regularly shared photos of the couple’s busy lives.

When Belichick’s recruitment to North Carolina was announced, Hudson revealed she would be moving south with him.

“We are in Chapel Hill!!!” Hudson posted this on December 13 via her Instagram Story.

Belichick’s tenure as head coach at the University of North Carolina will officially begin when spring training kicks off in April.
