Oops, she’s wearing it again! Blake Lively made sure all eyes were on her as she paid tribute to an iconic pop star at the New York premiere of her latest film, It ends with us.
Lively, 36, attended the film’s red carpet event at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Tuesday, August 6, rocking the memorable Versace butterfly dress originally worn by Britney Spears in 2002.
The mother of four, who attended the event with her husband, Ryan Reynoldspaid tribute to Spears, 42, via a Instagram story that evening.
“Today’s mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to shine and write and share our stories,” Lively wrote almost two decades ago alongside a photo of Spears wearing the dress. “Britney, all of us millennials have a story of a moment, or of years in which you made us shine and awe, with strength, joy and enormous hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories you still have to come.
Lively, who plays the central character of Lily Bloom It ends with usa big screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s critically acclaimed 2016 novel, confirmed on the red carpet that the dress was indeed Spears’. “It’s Britney’s real dress,” Lively told a reporter People at the event. “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met, but it’s my responsibility…I feel so lucky.”
Lively’s red carpet look isn’t the only Spears-inspired throwback sparked by the arrival of It ends with us. The film will also honor the singer by including her 2003 hit, “Everytime.”
Reynolds also had some fun with his ensemble on Tuesday, opting for an olive green suit paired with a white floral boutonniere in what seemed like an homage to his on-screen wife’s character.
The Deadpool and Wolverine The 47-year-old star proved to be a loyal supporter of his wife and brought along his Marvel costar Hugh Jackman along to celebrate.
Lively, who shares James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, 18 months, with Reynolds, has kept up a steady stream of beautiful floral dresses as she continues her press tour for It ends with uswhich hits theaters on Friday, August 9.
Inspired by her character, a florist, the actress has rocked a number of vibrant dresses, floral bags, beaded ensembles and more.
A standout look came on Saturday, August 3, when Lively wowed in an Oscar de la Renta mini dress with embroidered purple flowers on her bust that faded into yellow and orange flowers and almost looked like pressed petals.
She finished her look with purple crystal earrings, more flowers in her hair, purple and blue rings and strappy heels.
Lively is becoming known for channeling characters on screen while on the red carpet to promote her films. She recently gave a nod to her character Lady Deadpool, wearing a skin-tight ruby bodysuit, while attending the show. Deadpool and Wolverine premiere in New York on July 22.
