Bob Bryar, My Chemical Romance drummer, found dead at 44: report

Bob Bryanthe former drummer for My Chemical Romance, has reportedly been found dead. He was 44.

According to TMZ, the musician was found at his home in Tennessee by Animal Control on Tuesday, November 26 after being last seen on Monday, November 4.

While the cause of death is unclear, the outlet reported that there was no foul play. Medical professionals are currently investigating the cause of death, according to TMZ.

Bryar joined My Chemical Romance in 2004 to play drums, replacing the original drummer Matt Pelissier. As My Chemical Romance’s longest-running drummer, he remained with the band until 2010, working on their most popular release, the 2006 album. The Black Parade.

In the years following his departure from MCR, Bryar worked on other music projects before reportedly transitioning to a career in real estate.

Speaking to the Alternative press in 2016, Bryar shared details from his early days as part of My Chemical Romance and knew the band was ‘special’ from the start.

“I left a really good touring gig, doing tour management and sound. I left that job to join a band that was dirty, had bad stuff, a wrecked, smoking, deadly van and was poor. They also smelled bad. I was so happy with the offer,” he told the outlet. “I knew that long before we recorded ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ [MCR] were special and I wanted to participate. I wanted to help the band evolve and be able to shred with them every night.

Bryar also shared some of his most lasting memories as a drummer for the band.

“There are a few shows and events that really stand out for me. The first concerns the entire Black Parade tour. I thought I was dreaming most of the time,” Bryar said. “I really wish everyone could have the chance to sit behind my drum kit, have the best time ever and think about how crazy this is at a show.”

He continued: “We spent a lot of money organizing that tour. We also put all the money we made straight back into production. We did that because we were more interested in the show and not the money. This allowed us to keep ticket costs reasonably low. I still wish I had a piece of that set to keep as a memory. It was the best period of my entire life.”
