A girl in Boulder escaped a possible kidnapping Monday morning when an unknown man began following her on her bicycle and grabbed her shoulder, according to reports a message on X.com from the Boulder Police Department.
The 11-year-old said she was walking to school around 8:30 a.m. Monday on 26th Street between Meadow and Norwood avenues when a man started following her and grabbed her. The girl then grabbed a tree branch that was on the ground and punched the would-be kidnapper, causing him to let go and her to run to school.
The child later told her mother what happened, and on Wednesday she called the police.
The suspect is described as a man wearing all black, wearing a mask and round sunglasses with colored lenses. He may have spoken Spanish.
This is the second attempted kidnapping on the Front Range in the past week. A man tried to kidnap a girl at gunpoint outside Mountain Range High School on Oct. 25.
No arrests have been made in either case.
