The industry for information technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) must increase the content with added value of its offer to minimize the impact of American protectionism, according to the Industrial Association.

The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) mentioned the need to “navigate the changing of the worldwide policy that can influence industry”.

In a statement on Monday it said: “With 70% of the customer base of the Filipino IT-BPM industry from the US, the possibility of renewed protectionist policy under a Trump administration offers challenges and opportunities.”

Offshoring delayed during the first government of US President Donald J. Trump. The growth of the industry delayed up to 2.5% and 3.9% in 2017 and 2018 respectively, compared to the 12.3% in 2016.

“An urge for reshoring and nearshoring can influence the Philippines, making it necessary for IBPAP to double the country as a world leader in high-quality services such as bank, financial services, health care and digital transformation,” said it.

IBPAP president Jonathan R. Madrid called for broad representation in the leadership of the association to help it adapt.

“What brought us up to $ 38 billion in income and 1.82 million jobs (in 2024) may not bring us where we want to be. We have to adjust, innovate and lead the next chapter of the success of our industry, “he added.

On Monday Ibpap announced the election of the Board of Trustees before 2025 to 2027, including Ayhee Campos (Infosys BPM Filippijnen and Malaysia), Nicki Agcaoili (Carelon Global Solutions Philippines), Tonicho (Accure Philippines), and Philippines), and Philippines) Gupta (IBM Gupta (IBM Gupta (IBM Gupta (IBM Gupta (IBM Gupta (IBM Gupta (IBM Gupta).
