Breanna Stewart from Liberty gets Yankees Spotlight as MLB -Franchise The WNBA Championship Ring from New York Star Eerte

New York Liberty -star Breanna Stewart showed up to a fight between the two baseball teams in the city. On Sunday, Stewart threw the ceremonial first throw for game 3 of the Subway series between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets in Yankee Stadium.

In the social media post of Yankees, Stewart was also honored to help the Liberty to win the WNBA title 2024, giving the franchise the very first WNBA title ever.

“Stewie in the stadium 🗽,” the team wrote. ” @Breantatewart30, 2024 @WNBA champion of the @Nyliberty, with the ceremonial 1st pitch tonight 👏.”

In their Instagram story, the team also showed gratitude to Stewart for supporting the Yankees in the ceremonial pitch.

“Thanks to @BreannaTwart30 for throwing away the 1st throw of tonight,” said it.

The WNBA title 2024 was the third championship of the career of Breanna Stewart after winning two with the Seattle Storm in 2018 and 2020. She came to New York in 2023 and won the title in only her second season with the team.

The Liberty received their championship rings in their season opener from 2025 on Saturday against the Las Vegas Aces, whose team won the titles from 2022 and 2023. The team also revealed his championship banner in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Liberty closed the night with the 92-78 victory against the Azen to start their title defense of 2025. In the match, Stewart finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Breanna Stewart was seen as the missing piece in the title of the Liberty in 2023. Stewart delivered what was expected of her in 2024 when it mattered the most.

In an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, Stewart believed that their mentality was the main reason why they won the title of 2024.

“We won a championship about more than just me coming. But the way we changed a little what happened here in New York and brought that championship mentality – we did not win in the year one, but we came in year two,” she said.

Stewart hopes to continue such an attitude in the coming years.

“That will continue in year three and continue in the rest of the years that I play, but also continue in this franchise forever,” said Stewart.

After their 2024 conquest, the Liberty is expected to have a more difficult way to defend the title this year, because other teams loaded their gratings for the 2025 season.
