A Buffalo Bills fan apparently tried to use the snowy weather to their advantage Sunday night when they appeared to throw a snowball from the stands to try to block a San Francisco 49ers player’s field goal attempt.
Video shows 49ers kicker Jake Moody preparing for a 33-yard attempt in the first quarter of the game as flurries fell from the sky and a dusting of snow covered the field at Highmark Stadium in western New York.
As the football flew through the goalposts, a snowball almost seemed to block the ball, but no success.
Moody’s score was enough to give the Niners the lead, but Bills Mafia would later use the wintry weather as a way to show love to their squad.
Fans threw snowballs in the air to celebrate the team’s running back, Ray Davis, score a touchdown that took the lead away from San Francisco.
Cool temperatures and lake effect snow storm Orchard Park, New York – the site of the primetime game – over the weekend, prompting the Bills to ask fans to help clear the stadium for $20 per hourfood and hot drinks in advance.
The win helped the Bills capture their fifth straight AFC East title.
