After months of rumors, the BBC has finally confirmed its plans to make an edition of The Traitors featuring celebrities.
News of the project was first reported by Deadline in April 2024, but only now has the show been officially announced by its creators.
The British edition of the show was one of the biggest TV hits in recent years. The battle of the participants, who compete in a Scottish castle, even received more viewers than the reality chapter The Masked Singer.
So far, two seasons of the British edition of The Traitors have featured ‘ordinary citizens’. However, the US version has already mixed stars with members of the general public, while season 2 featured exclusively celebrities.

When will Celebrity Traitors be released?
The BBC and Studio Lambert have not yet released any information about the show’s release date. With filming for the celebrity edition set to begin in 2025, the show could debut later that year, possibly following the release of season 3 of The Traitors UK.

According to rumors Courteney Cox would be one of the participants. The actress appeared in a video published by Claudia Winkleman announcing season 2 of The Traitors UK. To fans, this proves that Cox is a fan of the show and could appear in the celebrity version.
There is also speculation that the show could happen Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Mary Berrywho appeared in the 2023 Celebrity Traitors sketch for Comic Relief. The 2024 draft also included: Suranne Jones, David Walliams and Catherine Tate – so these are all potential players.

We are happy to invite some celebrities to our castle to play the game. Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be must-see TV, and what a double treat for fans with Series 4 also confirmed. There’s a lot of exciting betrayal and deceit awaiting from the Highlands… Claudia will need to pack some extra knitwear.
What is Celebrity Traitors about?
The format of the series will likely be similar to the “burgers” version.
Celebrities are locked in a castle in the Scottish Highlands and compete for a cash prize. However, there will be some ‘traitors’ hidden within the group; they will plot and ‘kill’ other participants. Therefore, the ‘believers’ will have to discover who the ‘traitors’ are and vote them out of the game.
