Despite the positive result of Ferrari with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in the recently closed Emilia Romagna GP, the latter was not impressed by the tactics of his team. Leclerc, who ran strongly in the top five, doubted the team’s pit strategy and threw a sarcastic explanation with Hamilton.

In round 46 of the Imola GP race, Leclerc was in P4 and maintained his delta time after Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes had pulled off the track and brought in a complete safety car. In this situation, teams and drivers often take drawing in lesser time and they go for fresher tires.

This was something that Leclerc and his racing engineer Xavi discussed. Some messages from Xavi, however, made the #16 -Driver furious and did not let him be impressed. While Leclerc discussed whether he had to draw on Safety Car for soft connections during the period of Safety, Xavi told him that his teammate Hamilton did not want to draw.

Leclerc replied: Leclerc:

“I don’t care, I don’t care. We are talking about ourselves.” (0:57)

After this he spoke with his racing engineer and decided to draw on. Leclerc, however, kept away from Putten when he saw Hamilton, who ran in P3, diving into the pit stop and he did not want to lose the time by waiting behind.

By the time Charles Leclerc made a round around the track, the well window closed. As a result, he had to stay with the hard compound that he received in round 32. Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, from P3 to P7, but with an affordable soft connection.

It happened that a not -under the impression of Leclerc went to his team radio and said:

“Yes yes, I think we can win the race with Lewis [Hamilton]. (1:47)

Lewis Hamilton thanked Ferrari in the midst of unfortunate Charles Leclerc situation

While Charles Leclerc was not satisfied with how things came up for him in the Emilia Romagna GP, Lewis Hamilton was cheerful. Speaking after the race, this is what the sevenfold world champion said:

“There is still work to do, especially in one round, but if we can continue to build on days like this, we will be in the mix for stages. Grazie Mille Tifosi: your support means the world and I hope we have made you proud of you today.”

The Prancing Horse is currently in P4 in the Constructors’ Championship with 114 points, behind McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull. Charles Leclerc is in P5 of the rankings of the drivers with 61 points, followed by Lewis Hamilton in P6 with 53 points.
