Cher opened up about her short marriage to ex-husband Greg Allman in her new book, Cher: The Memoir – Part Onein which she explained why she initially filed for divorce after nine days. “I didn’t know if my relationship with Gregory would last or not. I lived each day as it came. Then I found out I was pregnant and we decided to get married,” she wrote. According to Cher, the ceremony was “arranged within a few days.” The pair went to Las Vegas to exchange vows and flew ‘straight back home’ after the whirlwind wedding. Cher further claimed that she found a “plastic bag full of white powder” in Allman’s belongings, which was the last straw for the pop star. She filed for divorce shortly after friends told her Allman was planning to end their marriage. They quickly reconciled but eventually divorced in 1979.
