Child shot in Pueblo after confrontation over stolen bicycle

A child was shot in Pueblo on Sunday following a confrontation over a stolen bicycle, according to Pueblo police.

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1700 block of Constitution Road around 10:15 a.m. Sunday. This is evident from a Sunday evening press release from the Pueblo Police Department.

A man and his child were looking for the child’s stolen bicycle when they found it in front of a residential building, according to police. The man confronted the residents and “a disturbance occurred,” the release said. The child, whose age was not released, was shot and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the department said.

A person barricaded themselves inside the home and the Pueblo Police Department SWAT team was called, according to the news release.

The shooting is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
