Chuck Jolley leaves food safety news

After 15 years of service, Chuck Jolley has left food safety.

Jolley was an advertisement director for the publication since its foundation in 2009. He developed the first marketing plan for news about food safety and served the organization until he recently had to abandon. In addition to his role as an advertisement director, Jolley also wrote opinion columns for food safety news.

During his term of office in the publication, he served as the contact person between the Publication and Food Safety Trade Associations and related events, including the International Association for Food Protection, Center for Produce Safety, the China International Food Safety & Quality Conference and Stop Foodborne ILS.

Jolley is president of Jolley & Associates, a marketing and public relations company that focuses on the food industry. He was the founder and chairman of the meat industry Hall of Fame, in honor of the legendary figures of the industry.

“I was honored to be part of a team of world class of journalists from the start when FSN had fewer than 9,000 subscribers 15 years ago. It was an exciting experience it was to grow to 44,000+, a highlight of my long career in the publication,” Jolley said.

“I know that every day it will remain the ‘first read’ for industry professionals and a delivered audience around the world. However, I am not driving in the sunset. I will still be here and I will stay in contact with the hundreds of friends I have made in the business.”

Jolley graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in temporary employment journalism and was a publisher of Meat & Poultry, the leading magazine Business-to-Business for the protein industry. He is a frequent contribution to articles about food safety, agriculture and the meat and poultry industry to business-to-business magazines and web-based publications in North America.

“Chuck was the reason that news for food safety was one of the few publications that actually included the ins and outs of the Washington DC fights on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA),” said Food Safety News publisher Bill Marler. “A little known fact is that news about food safety Capitol Hill references was refused until we were able to show that we had actual advertisements for external sources. Without Chuck, Food Safety News, with Helena Bottemiller, would never have had an opinion about making the legislation and to have that history.”
