CNN anchor calls out Trump spokesperson over his FEMA lies

CNN host Kate Bolduan blasted Donald Trump’s campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt for interrupting her on Wednesday when she pointed out the GOP nominee’s hypocrisy with its various lies about the federal government’s hurricane response.

Bolduan noted that one of Trump’s debunked claims, that the Biden administration is using Federal Emergency Management Agency money for Hurricane Helene recovery to spend on migrant housing, is “not true.”

“I don’t think the American people care which pocket the money comes from,” Leavitt replied.

Bolduan later failed to fact-check her.

“Ironically, Donald Trump attempted something very similar to what he now falsely claims about them. In 2019, Trump used FEMA –,” the host said before Leavitt cut her off.

“The American –” Leavitt said.

“I’m talking—let me finish,” Bolduan said, continuing Note that Trump has accepted money from FEMA’s disaster fund for migrant programs at the U.S.-Mexico border during his administration.

She later continued: “He is – is he okay with releasing disaster relief funds for dealing with migrants, but not anymore? Is that what you say?”

Leavitt continued to dodge Bolduan’s questions, claiming the federal government “botched” its response to Hurricane Helene.

“We will believe the word of the people of North Carolina, Florida and Georgia who are left behind and the word of this administration, which has been repeatedly caught in lies,” Leavitt stated.

“Also, the word from the Republican congressman saying that these rumors that Donald Trump has partially pushed the things he’s saying is not true,” Bolduan responded, referring to Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.) who earlier this week dismissed the rumors about hurricane responses.

She then slammed the spokesperson for claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris has “yet to answer the question” of whether she plans to deport millions of immigrants or provide housing for them.

“But I don’t hear you answering why it was okay for the Trump administration to use disaster relief funds to deal with migrants in 2019, and it’s not okay at all now and something he’s now calling the administration out on, Bolduan said as she pulled away from Leavitt.

“We’ll leave it at that because I’ve offered you three times to give me the answer and I’m not getting it.”
