Daredevil born again kills White Tiger, teases Punisher Return

Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for episode 3 of “Daredevil: Born Again”, which now streaming on Disney+.

After killing Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) in the first 10 minutes of the premiere last week, “Daredevil: Born Again” again raised the figure of the body.

Episode 3 followed the controversial process of Hector Ayala (played by the late Kamar de Los Reyes), aka de Vigilante White Tiger, who was accused of killing a NYPD officer the second episode of the show. As we saw, Hector actually tried to prevent two crooked agents from harassing a man near the metro and accidentally pushed one of them on the train. The police then tried to set up the man in his apartment, but Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) was there to protect him and to protect some brutal, Bot-Knapping justice.

Now Matt Ayala represents in his trial, which is filled with police officers who want to see Hector in prison for killing one of them. The process starts a tense start, and when Matt calls his first witness – the man who saved Hector – he hardly arrives at the court on time. The police, including the corrupt officer Powell (Hamish Allan-Headley), had already come to the witness, who changes his number and throws the fate of Hector in Jeopardy.

Matt decides to go into the offensive to get Hector free. He grills the remaining witnesses of the police as they give their testimonials, then Hector takes the position. Matt paints him as a good Samaritan who looked for a victim in need and shocking Hector’s white tiger mask for the entire courtroom, which reveals the true identity of the civilian guard. The white tiger moment works (but Hector is a bit irritated that Matt did not tell him in advance), and the jury does not find him guilty.

Hector runs free – but unfortunately not long. In the last moments of the episode, he fits as White Tiger to go on a patrol, but an unknown attacker has him on the street. We don’t see the face of the shooter, but he is wearing a black outfit with the white skullogo of the Punisher on his shirt. This can be the end of Hector’s story, but White Tiger could live on. In the comics Hector has a niece, Angela, and sister, Ava, who both absorb the cloak of the hero after his death. Their family passes on a magical jade amulet that drains the wearer with improved force, so it is possible “Daredevil: Born Again” can introduce another iteration of white tiger.

Could this tragic moment also mark the return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, from the two-season Netflix series? Without seeing his face it is hard to say, but this is not the first time that the Punisher logo has appeared in “Daredevil: Born Again.” Officer Powell also has a tattoo of the logo on his wrist, which was briefly seen in episode 2 when he was beaten up by Matt. We also know that there is a serial killer called Muse on the series in the series or It could be one of Mayor Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent d’Onofrio) who performs on civilian fights.

“Daredevil: Born Again” streams on Disney+on Tuesday.
