The new year doesn’t bring good news for Discovery+ subscribers, as the service is increasing prices for both plans in the United States.
Discovery Plus, owned by media conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, mainly offers documentary productions and reality shows from channels such as Discovery Channel, HGTV, Magnolia Network and TCL. After Warner Bros. and Discovery had merged in 2022, the service retained its autonomy, although much of its library is also available on Max.
In 2024, streaming platform subscribers were inundated with price hike announcements. Costs rose for most leading services, such as Disney+Hulu, Max, Peacock and Paramount Plus. Discovery Plus, on the other hand, hadn’t raised its prices since 2023… until now.
Fortunately, the price increase for Discovery Plus won’t be high; the cost for each level will increase by one dollar.
So the prices will look like this:
- Discovery+ ad-supported subscription – Increase from $4.99 to $5.99 per month
- Discovery+ ad-free subscription – Increase from $8.99 to $9.99 per month
Current users will see the price increase during their next billing cycle or beyond February 7, 2025. Those who want to join the service now will already see updated subscription prices.
For the time being, there is no information that the price increase would also take place in Great Britain.
