Lavrov said the US is beginning to lose its sense of mutual restraint against Russia, calling it “dangerous.”

Moscow:

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned the US not to cross Russia’s “red lines” in the conflict in Ukraine. He claims that Washington is starting to lose its sense of mutual restraint against Moscow, state news agency TASS reported.

In an interview on Wednesday, Lavrov said Americans “crossed their own red lines” in supplying weapons to Ukraine, the Russian News Agency reported.

“They (the US) must understand that our red lines are nothing to fool with. And they know very well where they are,” the report quoted him as saying.

Lavrov said the US is beginning to lose its sense of mutual restraint against Russia, calling it “dangerous.”

“(U.S. National Security Council spokesman John) Kirby said the issue of increasing aid to Ukraine must be approached carefully so as not to provoke World War III, because it will be sad to see Europe disappear,” said he, adding that the US has a “deeply held belief that it is untouchable”.

Lavrov said he hoped Washington would realize the potential consequences of supplying weapons to Ukraine.

“I am convinced that there are still reasonable people there with significant influence. And I hope that US interests will be taken into account,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kirby said at a news conference Wednesday that the U.S. welcomes any nation willing to help end the conflict in Ukraine.

“Any nation that is willing to try to help end this war and does so in accordance with the prerogatives of President Zelenskiy, the prerogatives of the Ukrainian people, his plan for a just peace, would certainly welcome such a role,” he said.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin named India as one of three countries he is in constant contact with regarding the conflict in Ukraine, asserting that they are making sincere efforts to resolve the conflict.

“We respect our friends and partners, who, in my opinion, are sincerely trying to resolve all issues surrounding this conflict, especially China, Brazil and India. I am in constant contact with our colleagues on this issue,” Putin said in a speech. separate report from TASS.

Putin’s comments came within two weeks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Ukraine, where he held talks with President Zelensky.

On August 23, Modi visited Ukraine where he told President Zelenskyy that Ukraine and Russia should sit together without wasting time to end the ongoing war and that India was ready to play an “active role” to ensure peace in the region to restore.
